In line with our objective of fostering the cultural heritage of India through various socio-cultural events, Panchamukhee is proud to present its fourth successive Durga Utsav this year, in Harrow, London, over five days between 24th and 28th Septmber 2009. As in 2008, the Utsav this year promises to be a cultural carnival where people from all backgrounds and cultures will participate and enjoy as one.
The cynosure of the festival will be the idols of Devi Durga and her family, hand-crafted from bio-degradable materials, in a traditional way, by Amarnath Ghosh, a renowned artisan from Kolkata. The six-day festival will also include various socio-cultural events and performances to provide meaningful entertainment to the audience and to help create cultural cohesion among various ethnic communities.
The events will aim to engage participants from across age groups, cultural backgrounds and abilities. We intend to organise events involving participants from within the local communities in London along with artists and professional performers from other parts of the UK and abroad (e.g., Netherlands, India, USA and Germany). Arrangement for free lunch and dinner will be made for everyone attending the festival. |
